BREAKDOWN

Runnin' Scared LP Painkiller

540 Records and Painkiller present one of the most important and, yep, best New York hardcore recordings on vinyl for the first time EVER with "Running Scared." On this 540 and Painkiller split release you will find the "Runnin' Scared" demo from 1988, recorded in The Loft studios in Bronxville, near the parkway, and previously unreleased versions of "All I Ask" and "Hold Me Back" - the latter basically a new Breakdown song that you can't get anywhere else except for this thing - and their WNYU session from 1989. The demo is as good as any hardcore record ever and the band is as good as any band.

BREAKDOWN

The '87 Demo LP Painkiller

540 Records and Painkiller have teamed up once again to bring you the other half of the legendary "Breakdown; Both Demos" series: the legendary '87 demo. Breakdown's original 1987 lineup was only together for a few short months, but in that time they produced one of the most legendary and influential recordings in the history of New York hardcore. Paving the way for every hard and heavy band to follow, Breakdown's take on hardcore was balanced with the perfect mix of hip hop's bounce, the power and dynamics of heavy metal and an unmistakable New York accent laced across a tough, streetwise sound that could only have come out of 1980s New York City. This LP contains the full, nine-song '87 demo, released here for the first time on vinyl in its entirety, backed with a crushing live set recorded on WNYU radio's Crucial Chaos during the summer of 1987. Both recordings have been faithfully restored from original sources and sound better than ever. Includes a full-color, 12" x 24" poster insert with extensive notes and anecdotes from members of the NYHC scene.

BREAKS, The

Get Saved 7-Inch Firestarter

These boys are full of energy and anger and they're gonna make sure you're damn well aware of that with fast, thrashy, catchy music and venomous words that cut straight to the point. The Breaks are on the warpath and the religious right and shitty punks are dead set for destruction. Great fast hardcore with a modern punch and lyrics to satisfy any kid into raw honesty and venomous spite.

BREAKS, The

Are broke 7-Inch Firestarter

The Breaks are back (sorta) and bringing you five more songs of midwest desperation and no-coast bitterness. Fast and raw with just the right amount of fist-pumping catchiness, the Breaks pull no punches. These five songs were recorded at the same time as their 'Get Saved' EP. Two of the songs were meant to be included on that record but were left off due to a mastering error. The other songs weren't going to be released but we felt like they were too good to let them be forgotten so this posthumous release will help ensure that these St. Louis ragers won't soon be forgotten.

BREATHING FIRE

s/t 7-Inch Painkiller

Well, these guys are back together and working on new material, Painkiller decided to press their demo tape on a vinyl ep to tide over the masses until they release something new. If you missed this when it was a tape, expect some violent and heavy hardcore with throat shredding, garbled vocals. The fast parts have tons of changes and unexpected twists and turns but then things drop into extended doomy portions that emphasize the isolation and misery. The band lists Infest and Black Sabbath as their influences. Limited to 500 copies.

BREATHING FIRE

Years Of Lead LP Painkiller

In 2004 Breathing Fire quietly laid down one of the most impressive demos, following which they promptly disappeared. In 2007 the band reconvened to unearth the remains of some unused songs and attempt some new ones, thus beginning a brief but fruitful reconnection between the members that produced this album. Years Of Lead takes the framework of their demo and pushes everything much further. The recording is dirtier and much more harsh, the slow sections more ominous, the fast sections more head spinning. Influenced by early power violence, harsh and dark hardcore, classic sludge, and hazy doom standards, but Years of Lead speaks its own language. Comes housed in a full color old style tip-on style jacket.

BRICK

BRICK ASSASSIN

Bite The Hand That Feeds 12" Foreign Legion

Chicago's Midway neighborhood hosts an airport and hundreds of locked cells for the working-class communities doing time on Chicago's south side. Brick Assassin comes from Midway, a band of resilient goons growing up big and ugly, raised on a diet of industrial slime and nuclear-green hot dog relish in a dense smog of dying industries. Their new 12"ep is a series of complaints about union bosses, Nazi skins and trying to feed a family while the atmosphere smothers your lungs. Limited edition of 300 copies.

BRICK FIGHT

s/t 7-Inch Welfare

Newcomers from the Haverhill, MA area, Brick Fight, are already busy playing locally with bands like Hammer Bros., The Effort, The Carrier and Word For Word, bringing a straight-forward, no frills hardcore sound, providing plenty of opportunities to mosh, bringing to mind such contemporaries as Guns Up!, Blacklisted and channeling the spirit of old Metallica.

BRICKLAYER

The Wall LP Hardware

Bricklayer is an ugly, meaty and straight to the point hardcore band from the Olympia/Seattle area. With dirty guitars, muddy bass, frantic drums and throaty vocal grunts, these guys spit out a total ripper of a full length that followed their 7'' single and demo tape. These thumping tracks of barbaric American hardcore stay in your head and never leave. Snag and Dig.

BRIDGE AND TUNNEL

Homecoming b/w Mixed/Media/Messages LP Run For Cover

Sonically anchored by a guitar-driven melodicism reminiscent of later-era Small Brown Bike, Bridge And Tunnel harness the explosive, angular technique employed by luminaries like Fugazi and Cursive to convey a cutting sense of immediacy and intensity. Above it all their voices weave together through a range of emotionally laden tones as somber harmonies flip to a wrenching howl that echoes the desperation and defiance they've put to paper. Fresh off their sophomore LP for No Idea Records, Bridge And Tunnel offer up two new songs on the single "Homecoming b/w Mixed/Media/Messages," furthering the socially-aware, atmospheric and melodic punk they've become known for. 7" includes digital download.

BRIDGES LEFT BURNING

Bystanders LP Assault

Listening to "Bystanders", the sophomore release from BRIDGES LEFT BURNING, prepare to be surprised. Musically, this is a highly successful blend of modern harcore and old school sounds, bound by powerful melodies, infused with a sense of urgency and filled with passion. Imagine VERSE and JUST WENT BLACK rolled into one. Wearing their hearts on their sleeves, "Bystanders" is fiercely political. Favoring literate and intelligent lyrics over sloganeering, these guys make it abundantly clear that this is more than music. Covering topics like human rights and the plight of refugees, personal responsibility and the consequences of capitalism unbound, there's anger and rage aplenty. But this isn't a resigned acceptance of the status quo. It's a wake-up call to action, fueled by the unwavering belief in the power (of people) to change and transform themselves and others. Refuse. Revolt. Resist."Bystanders" features guest vocals from Greg Bennick (Trial) and is available on colored vinyl, housed in thick cardstock covers. To accomodate the lyrics and ideas explored, this LP includes a 28-page booklet with lyrics, essays and recommendations for further reading.

BROADWAY CALLS

Comfort/Distractions LP No Sleep

It's been three long years since the release of their sophomore album, "Good Views, Bad News," which found the band label-less and without a budget to record a follow-up at the end of its cycle. Armed with determination and confidence in their new songs, Broadway Calls would eventually find a new home amongst a burgeoning roster of like-minded bands at No Sleep Records to release their best album to date. BROKEN HEARTS ARE BLUE

The Truth About Love LP Repeater

Broken Hearts Are Blue, from Michigan, released their sole classic and underrated LP "The Truth About Love" on Caulfield Records in 1997, which has become a staple LP of the mid-'90s emo/indie scene. Broken Hearts Are Blue was able to merge the sounds of Sunny Day Real Estate, Texas Is The Reason, and Evergreen together, yet still created their own unique sound that helped forge the classic mid-late-'90s emo style, similar to their peers in Braid. Now this rare LP has been remastered with new artwork and is back in print on vinyl after more than 20 years. Now available again on vinyl with one additional track. LP includes digital download and is limited to 500 copies on colored vinyl.
