Their style is reminiscent of hardcore acts like Kill Your Idols, Gorilla Biscuits, and Reach the Sky, but executed at SoCal skate-punk tempos. On colored vinyl.

BETWEEN EARTH & SKY

Of Roots And Wings LP Refuse

BETWEEN EARTH & SKY: a collection of five individuals bound together by a love for the writings of Ernest Becker and Samuel Beckett and endless amounts of vegan food have finally after nine long years managed to pull their personal lives together long enough to synthesize their perspectives on tragic experiences into a collection of songs infused with anguish and hope. Profoundly inspired by the inevitability of suffering, and the need to collect ourselves psychologically if we hope to ever be of any help to a world that so desperately calling for attention, action, and care, the members of BETWEEN EARTH & SKY delve deeply into irony by attempting to use powerful, yet melodic hardcore songs with insightful lyrics in a vain attempt to unravel their anxiety about the inevitability of their demise. Featuring a line up of experienced members (Greg Bennick, Alexei Rodriguez, and EJ Bastien of TRIAL and CATHARSIS; Sean Lande of STRAIN and BY A THREAD; and Happy Kreter of GOB and BURDEN).

BEWARE THE IDOLS

s/t 7" Indecision

In the summer of 2007, singer Rus Martin (Eyelid, Hotwire, Fake Figures), had the idea of making a concept EP and demoed five songs on an acoustic guitar of early '80s hardcore punk-influenced songs, a sound that harkens back to the days when he was growing up skating, going to shows and causing trouble. He had put a cheap distortion effect on the tunes and sent them to bass player and long-time friend, Erik Andrews to get some feedback. Without a drummer, or guitar player, they entered the studio with Joe Cardamone at Valley Recording Company and recorded the "Beware The Idols" EP. On colored vinyl.

BEYOND

Dew It! / Live Crucial Chaos WNYU LP Revelation

Beyond, though short lived in the NYHC scene (1988-1989), made an impact with their personal brand of Long Island metal-tinged hardcore with intricate riffage. The "Dew It!" demo was supposed to be recorded for Schism but the label folded before it got off the ground. They sold their demos through Some Records on the Lower East Side until the store closed and the rest were sold through mailorder. Originally recorded on a 1" tape and mixed on cassette, "Dew It!" has been remixed to give it the sound that was previously intended. Backed with the demo is Beyond's live set on WYNU's legendary punk and hardcore radio show, "Crucial Chaos," which was started in the late '80s and still continues to this day, nearly 25 years later. Members of Beyond have gone on to bands like Quicksand, Bold, Inside Out, Burn, Shelter, 108 and more. Revelation Records has combined these two gems on vinyl and paired it with a 20-page, 12" x 12" booklet. LP includes digital download of this record. On colored vinyl.

BIG CHEESE

Aggravated Mopery 7" Quality Control

Man, talk about deja vu all over again: I just saw Outburst last week and it was amazing to witness people go apeshit for them, some literally not born yet when I caught them last in 1989. This vibe continues upon listening to Big Cheese’s debut 7” on Quality Control HQ. The record is basically a love letter to the NYHC sound during the late 1980s: I hear a Killing Time/Leeway mosh part here, an Altercation/Warzone divebomb there, of course the aforementioned greats in Outburst, and how the hell does a northern UK lad sing a la Jeff Perlin from Breakdown?! These are all good points in my book as sometimes the implementation of retro styles can be a colorless, slavish reproduction of the past with no heart at it’s core. This is not the case here as the obvious affection for a particular time and place manifests itself in well executed grooves that both reflect and transcend their influences. Kudos to old friend Don Fury for a nice, crisp production and to Big Cheese for getting it right and flying the flag for an atavistic ethos that’s near and dear to my heart.”
Freddy Alva, Wardance Records, New York and Author of Urban Styles: Graffiti in New York Hardcore.

Big Cheese fly the flag for the New Wave of British Hardcore and hail from various parts of ‘The North’ of the UK. Members are also currently in bands such as Higher Power, Blind Authority and Rapture, and have previously played in Violent Reaction and Shrapnel.

BIG CHEESE

Dont Forget To Tell The World LP Painkiller

After the release of a demo tape and the European-only "Aggravated Mopery" EP, Big Cheese (featuring members of Violent Reaction) overwhelmingly established themselves as one of the best NYHC-style bands around (despite being based in UK), and made their claim as the live band to beat on stages across Europe. With a US tour imminent and new material in the works, Painkiller presents a 12" of all previously released material by Big Cheese (the aforementioned 7" and demo tape) plus one new song, all newly mastered and cut to a 45 RPM 12" to be played at maximum volume. New cover art by local legend Liam Fox of The Flex. Limited edition of 500 copies. Colored vinyl while stocks last.

BIG KIDS

Phone Home LP Adagio 830

The sophomore LP from BIG KIDS is exactly what you need...urgent and passionate music with more than enough melody to keep you singing along, and just enough jagged edges to remind you it's real. Recorded in a flurry of stress and creative energy, the songs here are a step forward for the band and the listener, but hardly a departure from what connected so many people to their first record. Listen to this loud, and with friends.

BILL BONDSMEN

new 12-Inch Burning Sensation

This bombastic shit pile of one two-fuck you two chord tantrums was recorded and mixed in late february 2007 in glorious ANALOG by the gentleman at Ghetto recorders in scenic downtown Detroit. Remixed and mastered there in march. Cover art and concept by Tim Caldwell. Same dude who did the cover of the Effigies' 'bodybag' single and the Negative Approach melted face design. Seven new songs.

BILL BONDSMEN

Young*, loud, and shoddy (*kinda) LP Burning Sensation

The BONDSMEN are one of the most real and honest bands on the face of the planet. Pissed off Detroit hardcore that gets compared to bands like BLACK FLAG and POISON IDEA, and for a reason. The BILL BONDSMEMN play tough '80s style hardcore with just the right amount of melody. The 7 songs on this nice looking 12inch manage to sound agressive and raw, while still being memorable. The songs have been previously released on their sold-out debut ep, the song from the 'Hibachi omnibus' and the song from the 'Detroit, rock city' compilations on it; but sound much better here. Some great looking new artwork has been made for this release. This is how hardcore should be.
