Tied Down LP Touch & Go

Born in 1981 in Detroit, MI, Negative Approach was the undisputed champ of Midwestern hardcore in the early to mid-'80s. Led by John Brannon's hoarse wail, with O.P. Moore on drums, and brothers Rob and Graham McCulloch playing guitar and bass respectively, the band concocted an extreme sound devoid of frills. Their classic LP, "Tied Down," is still considered paramount by most hardcore fans new and old. Now available again on colored vinyl. In Totality LP Dropping Bombs

Toledo, OH's Blue Skies Burning was around from 1999-2002 and played an incredibly powerful brand of emotional hardcore. Borrowing as much from early-'90s emo giants like Current and Anasarca as from late-'90s metalcore gods like Zao, their sound fell somewhere in the territory of bands like As Friends Rust, Boysetsfire, Grade, etc. "In Totality" features both the original, four-song demo, which was recorded by Tim Pak (Thoughts Of Ionesco, Fordirelifesake, Hamilton, etc.), as well as the "Last Leg Of My First Race" EP, which was originally released on CD by One Day Savior Records and was recorded by Brian McTernan (Converge, 108, Bane, Thrice, etc.). Limited edition of 200 copies.

Wildlife 2xLP No Sleep

La Dispute's "Wildlife," the follow-up to their 2008 LP "Somewhere At The Bottom Of The River Between Vega And Altair," is a nearly 60-minute musical examination of the twenty-something search for purpose; an exploration of the struggles that confront, damage, and redefine us inevitably in life through 14 tracks of new material. Set up as a collection of unpublished "short stories" complete with the author's notes and sectioned thematically by four monologues, "Wildlife" discusses the difficulties inherent in growing up by interweaving the author's own ambiguous loss and struggle for meaning alongside the stories it compelled him to document. Recorded at both Drasik Studios in Chicago, IL, and StadiumRed in New York with Andrew Everding and Joe Pedulla using no artificial reverb, La Dispute's sophomore full-length organically captures the sound of five friends committed to pushing their own creative boundaries while still retaining a desire to create honest and emotional music. New pressing now available on purple vinyl.

Bloom At Night 12" NMZ/ Assault

Philly's Sunstroke return with the follow up to last year's LP, "Second Floor/Seven". The new 12" EP, aptly titled "Bloom At Night", showcases the band's desire for progression. This release finds the band's sound expanding further into a unique blend of hardcore that holds true to the "Revolution Summer" brand, while highlighting some more subtle influences. The band has not only progressed sonically, but topically as well. While the last release saw Sunstroke taking aim at the ways of the world, "Bloom At Night" has a much more introspective approach in support of individuals tackling their own respective hardships. This EP firmly places Sunstroke at the forefront of an oncoming wave of modern melodic hardcore.
Five new tracks (including a Dag Nasty Cover).
Released by NMZ, this version was made exclusively for Assault records and comes with a slip cover.
Ships mid-november (fingers crossed).

Private Hell LP Triple B

On their final LP, Wolf Whistle slow down a step to explore the existential dread in the residential areas of their youth. A gruesome true crime story that points the finger at a host of offenders, from the local “Meat Man” to heaven’s own last line of defense: St. Peter. There is little innocence left in this sweaty cul-de-sac of Melvins-esque primal punk. “Private Hell…” is oppressive humidity captured sonically, a detailed account of a specific suburban misery. A bug-zapper hums through the background of 11 songs, as old skeletons get unearthed behind the toolshed of your parents' home. Vocals reverberate like your neighbors' domestic disturbance; a muffled echo off vinyl siding. As you contemplate a swan dive into a drained in-ground pool, you realize 25 minutes have passed. Did you notice the melted ice cream dripping down your arm?

The Gateway City Sound LP Safe Inside

If you haven’t heard of St. Louis, MO’s Time & Pressure yet, are you even paying attention? This explosive combo has been taking the Midwest by force with their unapologetic influences worn proudly on their sleeves. In the current era of hardcore where heavy, metallic bands reign supreme, Time & Pressure’s urgent brand of melodic hardcore acts is a refreshing return to form for those who yearn for the glory days of bands such as Have Heart and Carry On. Combining speed and intensity with aggression and pure rage, a modern legacy has been forged by impassioned vocal performances, reminiscent of Ruiner and American Nightmare and calculated musical arrangements akin to the likes of Sinking Ships and Count Me Out, Time & Pressure demand your attention to the point where the listener cannot look away. Embarking on their first east coast tour in the summer of 2019, the band has already burned through an exceptional amount of the Midwest region’s highways since the band’s inception in 2018. Following the release of “The Gateway City Sound”, the boys from St. Louis will be hitting the road in 2019 and 2020 playing several festivals including LDB, Sweat Fest, Mean Streets fest, Murder and fest as well as playing new areas all over the country and be dropping the hammer on a stage near you.
