ON THIN ICE

All Hope Abandon 7-Inch Dead & Gone

5 fast and pissed off songs from these scumbags from the South on their debut ep. This brooding, sullen-sounding release brings elements of early New York hardcore and INTEGRITY (back when they started out) laced with an attitude all of their own and a nasty streak a mile wide. Angry, negative and powerful. Artwork by Dwid from Integrity.

FOREVER YOUTH/ I OBJECT split

7-Inch PBP

Both bands on this split play fast youthful positive hardcore with an 80's influence, melody and some awesome chorus parts. Intelligent lyrics that cover themes beyond the usual hardcore topics are another plus. Hardcore for the punks! Colored vinyl in stock.

FOR THE WORSE

The Chaos Continues 7-Inch Bridge Nine

Quote: 'I like the attitude these men are wearin'. Death to teenage America! Burn, Warped tour, burn! Hell yeah. For The Worse are a bunch of psychotics playing vintage Boston Hardcore (think SSD). All of these songs sound like that old Evel Kneivel motorcycle that you revved up and pull the ripcord on. And just like ol' Evel, they hit the wall in, like, a minute. Maniacs.' Vocalist Mike McCarthy (formerly of A Poor Excuse) makes his return from the ring to the stage.

CAPITAL DEATH

Carbon 7-Inch PBP

CAPITAL DEATH plays intense original sounding hardcore punk. Imagine a cross betweem SEPITC DEATH and FILTH. They have put out one ep in the past that ruled, but thise is definitely their best stuff yet. It's a great recording and an all around great looking record. This is a band well worth checking out.

STAKEOUT, The

On The Run LP Deranged

Hailing from Finland, these 5 gents play nothing but good old fashion '80s inspired US hardcore comparable to the likes of Jerry's Kids and some have said Minor Threat. If anything, this record sounds like the first DS-13 ep - fast, furious, loud and damn solid. Did I mention this band features two dudes from the legendary Selfish? They have a ep, a split ep and a split LP (on Six Weeks Records) already out but this is their best and strongest recording to date. Sixteen songs, all killer, no filler.

SPARK, The/ BAIL OUT! split

7-Inch Rosewater

10 songs of fast and thrashy hardcore from the Baltimore/DC area. A record dedicated to bikes, skateboards and pizza. Six songs serve as the debut for BAIL OUT!, fast hardcore with very nice breakdowns and intelligent lyrics. I'd definitely like to hear more! The SPARK cranks out records like there's no tomorrow and somehow they still manage to improve on their songs. They even have a SXE song in which they admit that they're addicted to buying records and a DAG NASTY cover.

RIGHT ON

No Joke 7-Inch Malfunction

Drawing from the best parts of the new and upcoming California scene, Right On introduces us to 7 songs of fast melodic hardcore, guaranteed to be loved by fans of TFS, Our Turn, Allegiance and Lights Out. They even write short explanations to their lyrics, something that I look favorable upon. Positive hardcore has a new contender in the ring and Malfunction another promising young band on their hands.

PROWL, The

The First Room On The Left 7-Inch Painkiller

Western Mass' The Prowl have been vibing off slasher flicks, cheap booze, and loud amps for a couple of years now, creating a great hybrid of early LA hardcore like the Adolecents and TSOL and the moodier, darker grooves of the Damned and the Wipers. They've previously released a controversial ep on Gloom and a 10 inch on Deadalive. Four new tracks on this slick looking ep.

INTERNAL AFFAIRS/ LAST NERVE split

7-Inch Resist

The split consists of 6 songs, 3 from each band. Both bands feature 2 new unreleased songs as well as a rerecorded song from their demos. From Infest to Youth Of Today, INTERNAL AFFAIRS band has all bases covered for making an energetic hardcore record. LAST NERVE hail from Sydney Australia, and what started out as a tongue in cheek reaction to all the screamo and tuned down mess that is rife in the current scene, it is now a serious effort at restoring the traditional hardcore sound that Australia needs.

CHANGE, The/ PATH OF NO RETURN

split 7-Inch Monument

Sweden's The Change cut loose with two new songs of hardcore the way it was meant to be played- rooted in a classic style and with energy, aggression and heart. Path Of No Return are way more on the heavy side of things, playing metallic hardcore with gruff vocals and moshparts galore. Nice cover artwork.

SPARK, The

Fashion Rats & Status Whores 7-Inch Mike Fitzgerald

These Baltimore, MD punks return with their 2nd EP packed with 10 songs of fast, and honest hardcore. These guys (and girl) embody the DIY spirit, driving hours to play one show, setting up shows, and traveling all over the East Coast to support other bands. Think a more distorted and raw No Justice with a political concience.

SLUMLORDS

Demo 2003 7-Inch Superhero

In a scene littered with metal disguised as hardcore, pop rock disguised as punk, Baltimore's Slumlords are rapidly gaining worldwide popularity because of their direct style of straight up old fashioned hardcore and street punk. Having paid their dues in such bands as Breakdown (Jeff Perlin vocals), Day Of Mourning, Comin' Correct, Next Step Up, this is where it all began.

S.B.V.

s/t 7-Inch Parts Unknown

San Diego's S.B.V. deliver the goods on their debut ep, taking the best of old southern California bands like Uniform Choice, but leaving out the Hallmark card lyrics and poetry intros. Sick artwork by Jeff Gaither, who has worked with everyone from the Accused to Annihilation Time. Silent But Violent deliver the goods. Watch out for their upcoming LP on DERANGED.

NEVER ENOUGH/ SOLID GROUND split

7-Inch Vendetta

The debut release for SOLID GROUND leaves nothing to be desired. Three songs of intense hardcore that will have you fingerpointing in no time flat confirm that those kids still got what it takes after years of playing in various bands. Sincere and dedicated, this is an inspiring effort. Teaming up with US heroes Never Enough isn't a bad idea either, because those guys give two new songs as well, at bit more pissed and punk and with lots of attitude, not afraid to title their side 'fuckyour hardcore'. An awesome team-up and a greta (slick looking too) record!

FUCKED UP

Epics In Minutes CD Deranged

For those unfamiliar with the band, they have 5 singles out already, a split ep with, along with a full length in the not so distant future. They are from Toronto, Canada and they feature Jonah from Career Suicide and Mike from Ruination. A good number of the tracks found on the CD have appeared on vinyl in one shape or another but this CD features a number of previously unreleased mixes, demo tracks and part of a radio set. The whole project was re-mastered by Jon Drew who was responsible for making the Police ep so damn devastating in the first place. Not to be missed!

Bad To Worse 7-Inch State Of Mind

Four songs from this Long Island based group featuring ex-members of Inside and Silent Majority. This ep has a crazy layout with hand screened bags, four different colors of vinyl, an 11x17 inch poster, and bonus CD. Musically, they kind of remind me of the underrated Silent Majority.

RADICAL ATTACK/ TALK HARD split

7-Inch Moo Cow

This is Talk Hard from Boston's second release. Their debut, the 'Sarah Connor's Will' ep received tremendous critical acclaim for the intense and wonderfully intelligent lyrics. These three songs are a bit more metallic than on their debut, but still heavy hitting and they continue to write some of the best lyrics in hardcore today. This is Radical Attack's, from Quebec, second release as well. Their first being a split CD with Maine's Never Say Die. These five tracks are faster, more hardcore, and much better than their debut.
