ANY LAST WORDS

s/t 7-Inch Havoc

From the St. Paul streets comes Any Last Words. High energy fast hardcore which brings to mind recent bands like Lifes Halt and No Justice and the faster late 80's SE bands like early Youth of Today or No For an Answer. The songs on this record are the best from their demo and some new tracks all recorded by Tim Mac and produced with his trademark crunch. (Mac recorded Damage Deposit and Holding On as well). Critical Colin who does double duty in Damage Deposit provides some great artwork on the front and back cover. Lyrically, Any Last Words are a sincere and thoughtful band with current political commentary while still being incredibly pissed off at everything. ALW takes on GW Bush and his war, emo, work, fashioncore and society and still finds time to contribute the uproarious song 'I wish I could skate'. Twin Cities Hardcore!

APPRAISE

s/t 7" Refuse

Barcelona Straight Edge. Debut 7", but we're not talking about newcomers here. Members of Appraise were heavily involved in the local scene in Barcelona for the last decade, from booking regular shows and festivals (like Fire & Ice Fest), running a record label (Cycle Records) and playing in bands (CINDER, COLLAPSE, POWER). Appraise are some die-hards, for which Straight Edge, PMA and old-fashioned hardcore is still vital and important. Their 7" contains 6 tracks (+ outro). If you're into Insted, In My Eyes, Floorpunch or Life's Halt... don't miss them. Split with Tea Brigade Records.

Deeper Than That LP Refuse

Following their debut 7" here's the 12" of this band from Barcelona, Spain. The new release is definitely step forward and perfect example that Southern European HC scene works pretty well. "Deeper that that" 12" bringing to the table 11 songs (incl. DC's YOUTH BRIGADE cover) of tight and energetic combination of early 80's HC and late 80's youth-crew hardcore. It should be pleasant listening to anyone into bands like INSTED, LIFE'S HALT or MINOR THREAT. Lyrically, it's full on reflections on human behaviour and social awareness.

ARMS RACE

New Wave Of British Hardcore LP La Vida Es Un Mus

ARMS RACE unleash their debut album after a well-received 6-track demo in 2013 and a 6-track 7" EP in 2014 on Quality Control HQ and Painkiller. Arms Race arrived on the scene fully formed with their powerful and gnarly UK-meets-USA hardcore: their signature sound of a vocalist chewing on glass is backed by one of the most solid rhythm sections in HC these days, and the guitar work adds a metallic element making the whole sound gigantic while keeping the ugliness and aggression to the max. NWOBHC is a statement of no-frills hardcore that is not scared to reach out to different corners of the punk and metal world.New Wave Of British Hardcore was recorded by James Atkinson at Mutiny Studios and sounds bright and powerful. It comes housed in a sleeve designed by Andrew Fletcher with extra artwork by Nicky Rat who doubles as bass player. There is a download code, and a poster insert.

ARMS RACE

Gotta Get Out 7" Painkiller

The New Wave of British Hardcore marches on with this domestic release of Arms Race's debut 7" as a prelude to a North American tour in the spring of 2015. A volatile collision of their British ancestors (Chaos UK, Ultra Violent), and those from across the pond (YDI, Life's Blood), with members also tied to Violent Reaction, The Flex, Crown Court, and plenty more. Rough and rabid - London continues to prove that they've got one of the best scenes going for real hardcore in the present day. Don't miss this one. GREEN Covers.

ARMS RACE

The Beast 7" Painkiller

Arms Race follows up their "New Wave Of British Hardcore" LP with four new tracks which see the band solidify their place as one of the strongest pillars of UK hardcore. "The Beast" displays a ferocious hardcore attack with both boots firmly stuck on the hardcore and punk territories while looking forward to new soundscapes on which they evolve, such as on track 'Distort Britannia' that showcases a slowed down, atmospheric stomper. Part classic USA hardcore, part Bristol and Stoke On Trent punk, these new tracks are a perfect continuation of what the band has created during these last five years. Limited edition of 500 copies.

ARMY OF FUN

s/t 7-Inch self-released

I guess I expected pretty standard fast hardcore, of the Gorilla Biscuits/Minor Threat style, but AOF are actually a lot more rock n' roll than that, and a good bit faster as well. There are a lot of Army of Fun songs that sound like nothing so much as sped-up rock n' roll, and in that way they remind me of 9 Shocks Terror. Six songs of energetic old school hardcore with a rocking edge and some melodies. Nice one.

ARRIGT ANTRAEK

s/t 7-Inch Hjernespind

Punk/ hardcore from Copenhagen, Denmark. There must be something in the water up there, since they've got some awesome bands! While Arrigt Antraek aren't as fast as Amdi Petersens Arme or as melodic as No Hope For The Kids, they manage to hold their own amongst their contemporaries. Eight fast songs with melodic parts.

ARTICLES OF FAITH

New Normal Catastrophe 12-Inch Alternative Tentacles

This five-track 12-inch EP is blazing fast and intelligent hardcore a la the band's classic What We Want Is Free EP (1982) and Give Thanks LP (1984). Recorded at Chicago's Million Yen Studios (Cheap Trick, Effigies, Local H, Smoking Popes) on July 4, 2010, these songs show the members' continuing political involvement and enduring musical chops. This lineup had not written or recorded together since 1985's In This Life LP.

ARTIFICIAL PEACE

Complete Session November 1981 LP Dischord

Artificial Peace barely lasted a year but were a major player in the early DC hardcore scene. AS FRIENDS RUST

The Porch Days: 1998-2000 LP DRA

THE PORCH DAYS: 1998-2000 is a collection of material from the definitive As Friends Rust era. More commonly referred to as the ‘Coffee Black’ era, this lineup, while not the most productive in terms of output, best captured the band’s distinct narrative, and really cemented their brand of melodic hardcore punk. The release rounds up all of this classic lineup’s gems, from “Home is Where the Heart Aches” and “The First Song on the Tape You Make Her” to the eponymous 6-Song EP including “Coffee Black” and “Like Strings” and additionally features the band’s cover of Circle Jerk’s “Operation” plus live recordings of two songs that were never recorded or released, for a total of 10 from the rusty 5!

AS WE WERE

ASH TO DUST

s/t 7" Video Disease

Very dark and striking HC from the depths of central California, Ash To Dust is a band that refuses to adhere to genre limitations. Taking elements of dark punk and HC along the lines of Rudimentary Peni and then pairing it with brooding and complex metallic riffs, the band breathes new life into a stale HC scene by offering something different. The songs on this record even have a bit of an early Neurosis or later Black Flag feel at times because of the dark and depressing riffs. On colored vinyl.
