The first studio recordings from these New York hardcore legends since 2001's "Cleanse," Burn returns with three new tracks on "...From the Ashes," continuing to drive the paradigm of the style whose boundaries they initially pushed with their classic, self-titled EP in 1990. The progressive and introspective sound cultivated by original members Chaka Malik on vocals and Gavin Van Vlack on guitar is back, and is now rounded out by ex-Glassjaw rhythm section Manuel Carrero and Durijah Lang, who add fresh groove to the band's renewed onslaught. For fans of Cro-Mags, Inside Out, Absolution and Glassjaw. 7" includes digital download. On colored vinyl.
"Do Or Die" is the highly anticipated new album from Burn. The album was engineered by Kurt Ballou (Converge) at GodCity Studio and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Slayer, Public Enemy, Sonic Youth). An invigorating modernization and continuation down the path these visionaries forged alone two decades earlier. Vinyl version includes digital download.
Burn Your Life Down's debut is none other than a perfect example of
human dysfunction meets unorthodox musical scoring. Taking notes from
head cases like Kiss It Goodbye and Bloodlet, BYLD takes that school of
thought and cultivates a hardened edge all their own. Heavy grooves
intertwine with bouncy riffs, all coupled with deranged vocal patterns
that paint inkblots that ask, "What does this look like to you?" 12"ep
includes digital download.
Although some define hardcore as a specific sound, most believe it's more than that: a set of varying ideas, ethics, principles, attitudes and, yes, music, that converge to form a community. 'Burning Fight: The Nineties Hardcore Revolution In Ethics, Politics, Spirit, And Sound' by Brian Peterson provides some answers, but also brings up a whole new set of questions for those who've been drawn to the scene's political, social, ethical and spiritual ideas amidst the screamed vocals and abrasive chords. 'Burning Fight' features commentary from approximately 150 participants from the nineties hardcore scene as well as oral history articles about straight edge, politics, vegetarianism and interviews with a variety of influential bands such as: Avail, Burn, Earth Crisis, Inside Out, Integrity, Los Crudos, Spitboy, Strife, Texas Is The Reason, Unbroken and more. 503 pages. Essential.
Serving as a precursor to their Southern Lord debut to be delivered in 2012, this 7" features two tracks of rock 'n' roll-inspired hardcore punk from this Toronto, Canada crew who feature Chris Colohan of Cursed, The Swarm, and Left For Dead on vocals. 7" includes digital download. On colored vinyl.
Chris Colohan (Cursed, The Swarm, Left For Dead, Ruination) and co. are back with a single
featuring "Don't Ever Change" from an upcoming full-length on the A-side and a cover of Nick
Cave's "Jack The Ripper" on the B-side. Burning Love is definitely more punk than Cursed,
but still rooted in doom/stoner metallic hardcore.
This EP is the first vinyl offering from Toronto, Canada's Burning Love, featuring Chris Colohan (Cursed, Left For Dead, Ruination) on vocals. Originally released as a limited cassette demo in 2009, now available on vinyl. Burning Love is definitely more punk than Cursed but still rooted stoner/doomy metal hardcore. The recording features four originals and one Battalion Of Saints cover.
"Rotten Thing To Say" is the
second full-length from Torontonians Burning Love, who feature the
illustrious Chris Colohan of Cursed, The Swarm and Left For Dead on
vocal duties spewing forth his witty, sarcastic and intelligent lyrics
over rock 'n' roll-inspired hardcore punk that merges the darkness of
Poison Idea, the melodic aspects of Queens Of The Stone Age and the
inspired high energy of MC5. Now available on vinyl.
Burning Love is an unapologetic punk band from Toronto, Canada fronted by vocalist/lyricist Chris Colohan (Cursed, Left For Dead, Ruination, etc.). Burning Love's approach is more nuanced than Colohan's previous bands, mixing raw melody and swagger (akin to Laughing Hyenas, Poison Idea, etc.) into their hardcore blood. "Down So Long" b/w "Medicine Man" is a two-song banger of an EP, recorded by Josh Korody at Candle in Toronto (Fucked Up, etc.). 7" includes digital download. On colored vinyl.
Scattered across the east coast, BURST OF RAGE is a new, young hardcore band that hails from DC, CT, NY, and MA. Paying homage to the Anthrax bands of the late 80s, they come correct with their debut 7-song demo of tunes inspired by the "X Marks The Spot" compilation 7".
15 song LP from the Memphis kings of fast and hard. Similiar in vein to Tennesse alumni Deathreat, No Parade, and Cop Out this LP is the equivalent of a very well spoken kick to the crotch. If you like old greats like Negative FX and Poison Idea you'll dig on this. Did I mention this is fucking fast?
Tough bare knuckle hardcore with tough intent, charging guitars lead speeding blast beats to heavy SXE-styled breakdowns and choruses while hoarse shouting vocals resonate full bore, double barrel, no holds barred political lyrics. Straight forward in overall attack, Memphis, Tennessee's BURY THE LIVING's second full Length LP's 21 tracks are filled with enough dark twists, experimentation and pulling from diverse influences within the Hardcore formula- from blast beat Mid '90's hardcore to SXE hardcore to late '80's experimentation with rock formulas within the hardcore format to fit well as their Prank debut. I really dig this, awesome record!
Current darlings of the Bay Area hardcore scene and sporting chaps who already show up on the Warthog Speak roster in such class acts as Permanent Ruin, Stressors and Scalped, Busted Outlook is made up of dudes that have more than likely booked a show for your band if you've played in the Bay Area at any point over the last five years. Locked in the grooves of this record is some of the tightest, spirit-lifting, metallic hardcore this side of '88. Riffs galore. Divebombs, breakdowns, dope solos and good vibes to help you ride through summer 2015.
By A Thread has written and recorded some of the most dynamic and influential post-hardcore/rock ever to come out of the Pacific Northwest. Drawing on their experience in the hardcore band Strain, the four members of By A Thread create multi-layered, emotional music fueled by the power and desperation of the human experience. The album's tracks are as expressive, evocative and memorable as the band's debut, but reveal a maturity in songwriting and approach that has developed in the decade since that first release. Now available on colored vinyl. Vinyl version includes digital download.
Seminal hardcore band By The Grace Of God whose first two releases on Victory Records made waves in the mid-'90s has existed on the fringes of the music scene since 2000. In the summer of 2017, they met for four days to write and record "Above Fear." With insightful lyrics that focus on community, egalitarianism, and political activism, "Above Fear" is a powerful return after such a long silence. Vinyl version includes digital download and a silkscreened B-side. It's great to have them back.
For my money, BTGOG was one of the most intense and passionate bands ever. They've
recently started to play shows again (and will be on tour in europe this summer. To mark the
occasion, their last songs are finally available on vinyl. They're the best thing they've ever
done, and I'm very happy that I can finally retire my well-worn CD copy. Get this.
Musically, By The Grace Of God crosses all lines between melodic and downright aggressive punk/hardcore. Their first EP, "For The Love Of Indie Rock," was incredibly well-received. With songs that ranged from political and emotional to the importance of fun in the punk scene, they conveyed an overwhelming positivity and a push for unity that the punk/hardcore scene hasn't been addressing for a long time. Now available again on colored vinyl.
Four veterans of the hardcore scene have come together to form
Bystander. Featuring members of Trial, Spirits, Decline, Expired Youth,
Test Of Time, Between The Earth And Sky, and more, Bystander is a modern
take on classic, youth-crew hardcore. Introspective and thoughtful
lyrics set over guitar-heavy rhythms coupled with unique art and
packaging set this release far beyond the average 7" EP of the genre. Colored vinyl while stocks last.
In 2018, four individuals came
together to juxtapose a modern age of hardcore that had become heavy and
metallic. Featuring Greg Bennick of Trial and current and former
members of Spirits, Test Of Time, and Decline, Bystander has their
sights set on becoming a positive force of change in the hardcore scene.
They hope to leave the breakdowns behind, as they set forth with open
minds for the future. On colored vinyl.
Second release from these Montreal punkers! CCSS was originally the side project of Steve and Sam from Inepsy. They decided to dedicate their inspiration to late seventies/early eighties punk rock. They toured with Born/Dead in 2005 and soon after, they became a full time band. CCSS reminds me of early UK punk ala One way System/GBH mixed up with Americans like Crucifix/The Germs/Dead Boys. This band's the most original thing to come out of the crust punk scene in recent years… This new ep includes three super catchy songs + a very good version of 'Dicks hate the police'.
Grab your skateboard and get ready to thrash! Rat Byte are back this time with friends C.F.L in tow. You get 4 blazing skatecore songs from Rat Byte and 5 from C.F.L. Both bands play good old fashioned hardcore like it was 82 all over again. Fans of bands like ANS, SBV, Tear It Up, Bones Brigade etc. take note and pick it up!!
C.O.P. is a young '80s style hardcore group who are based out of Riverside California. Classic nardcore at its finest, raw, rude, and overflowing with a bad attitude. Their sound is compared to old Mystic hardcore groups such as STALAG 13, R.K.L., and ILL REPUTE. This is very good, high quality hardcore.
The Rockville, CT, quartet initially met through their town's tight-knit noisecore scene, but they didn't join forces until 1994. Seeking an outlet for unencumbered expression devoid of punk's macho trappings, Cable became one of New England's most sensational underground bands, celebrated for their synthesis of complex rhythms and metal-influenced methodology. A fiery confluence of noise, hardcore, and emo, the recordings from Cable's inaugural year are teeming with a chutzpah that has only emboldened with time. 12"ep includes digital download and a blank B-side. Limited edition of 500 copies on colored vinyl.
Arisen from the ashes of To Ashes – a new vegan edge metal super group! True 90’s style metal(core) with thoughtful and provoking lyrics. FFO: Purification, Arkangel, To Ashes, …
