BREAG NAOFA

s/t LP Panic

The debut self-titled LP from Seattle, WA's Breag Naofa (featuring members of Trial and Love Is Red) brings on a sound that is of the slow, crushing, heavy and repetitive nature, while adding layers of ambience to almost give you the feeling of being lost in the music. Breag Naofa will surprise you with heavy, crushing riffs that start out like a slow locomotive, building to full force, driving, D-beat style rhythms, creating enough anxiety to then calmly bring you back down into yet another ambient wave of music that continues to hit hard while at the same time hypnotize. Following in the footsteps of other primogenitor artists such as Cult Of Luna, Isis and Russian Circles, Breag Naofa want to further extend the boundaries where their music can take them and evolve with the music and the message. BREAK IT UP

demo 2004 7-Inch Anger Management

Out of the remains of Thirty Seconds Until Armageddon and Voorhees comes Newcastle’s Break It Up. This isn’t a modern take on hardcore: this is no bullshit, no frills youth crew that sounds like it came straight out of 1987. The sold out demo gave a nod to Uniform Choice and Insted, and if you've missed it, this is your chance to chek it out.

BREAK IT UP

No Sides LP Dead & Gone

Out of the remains of Thirty Seconds Until Armageddon and Voorhees comes Newcastle's Break It Up. This isn't a modern take on hardcore. This is no bullshit, clean youth crew that sounds like it came straight out of 1987. 12 tracks of early O.C.-sounding hardcore in the vein of Insted and Uniform Choice. Way better than their debut ep.

There are 6 songs on this and every one of them is bursting with an abundance of youth-crew, posicore hardcore-fuelled energy. The songs are medium to fast paced and really hammer along like there's no tomorrow. The quality of the song structures and the recording on the instruments are top notch. BREAKDOWN

Runnin' Scared LP Painkiller

540 Records and Painkiller present one of the most important and, yep, best New York hardcore recordings on vinyl for the first time EVER with "Running Scared." On this 540 and Painkiller split release you will find the "Runnin' Scared" demo from 1988, recorded in The Loft studios in Bronxville, near the parkway, and previously unreleased versions of "All I Ask" and "Hold Me Back" - the latter basically a new Breakdown song that you can't get anywhere else except for this thing - and their WNYU session from 1989. The demo is as good as any hardcore record ever and the band is as good as any band.

BREAKDOWN

The '87 Demo LP Painkiller

540 Records and Painkiller have teamed up once again to bring you the other half of the legendary "Breakdown; Both Demos" series: the legendary '87 demo. Breakdown's original 1987 lineup was only together for a few short months, but in that time they produced one of the most legendary and influential recordings in the history of New York hardcore. Paving the way for every hard and heavy band to follow, Breakdown's take on hardcore was balanced with the perfect mix of hip hop's bounce, the power and dynamics of heavy metal and an unmistakable New York accent laced across a tough, streetwise sound that could only have come out of 1980s New York City. This LP contains the full, nine-song '87 demo, released here for the first time on vinyl in its entirety, backed with a crushing live set recorded on WNYU radio's Crucial Chaos during the summer of 1987. Both recordings have been faithfully restored from original sources and sound better than ever. Includes a full-color, 12" x 24" poster insert with extensive notes and anecdotes from members of the NYHC scene.

BREAKER BREAKER

Out Of Service MCD Martyr

This final EP is without a doubt Breaker Breaker's finest material, a step above their well received demo ep on Bridge 9 Records. Breaker Breaker was straight edge, but avoided being pigeon holed. Their mix of angry hardcore, and fast energetic punk rock set them apart from the pack. This record will give them the recognition they deserve. Too bad they're no longer around, I would've liked to see more vinyl (lyrics wouldn't have hurt either).

BREAKS, The

Get Saved 7-Inch Firestarter

These boys are full of energy and anger and they're gonna make sure you're damn well aware of that with fast, thrashy, catchy music and venomous words that cut straight to the point. The Breaks are on the warpath and the religious right and shitty punks are dead set for destruction. Great fast hardcore with a modern punch and lyrics to satisfy any kid into raw honesty and venomous spite.

BREAKS, The

Are broke 7-Inch Firestarter

The Breaks are back (sorta) and bringing you five more songs of midwest desperation and no-coast bitterness. Fast and raw with just the right amount of fist-pumping catchiness, the Breaks pull no punches. These five songs were recorded at the same time as their 'Get Saved' EP. Two of the songs were meant to be included on that record but were left off due to a mastering error. The other songs weren't going to be released but we felt like they were too good to let them be forgotten so this posthumous release will help ensure that these St. Louis ragers won't soon be forgotten.

BREATHING FIRE

s/t 7-Inch Painkiller

Well, these guys are back together and working on new material, Painkiller decided to press their demo tape on a vinyl ep to tide over the masses until they release something new. If you missed this when it was a tape, expect some violent and heavy hardcore with throat shredding, garbled vocals. The fast parts have tons of changes and unexpected twists and turns but then things drop into extended doomy portions that emphasize the isolation and misery. The band lists Infest and Black Sabbath as their influences. Limited to 500 copies.

BREATHING FIRE

Years Of Lead LP Painkiller

In 2004 Breathing Fire quietly laid down one of the most impressive demos, following which they promptly disappeared. In 2007 the band reconvened to unearth the remains of some unused songs and attempt some new ones, thus beginning a brief but fruitful reconnection between the members that produced this album. Years Of Lead takes the framework of their demo and pushes everything much further. The recording is dirtier and much more harsh, the slow sections more ominous, the fast sections more head spinning. Influenced by early power violence, harsh and dark hardcore, classic sludge, and hazy doom standards, but Years of Lead speaks its own language. Comes housed in a full color old style tip-on style jacket.

BRICK ASSASSIN

Bite The Hand That Feeds 12" Foreign Legion

Chicago's Midway neighborhood hosts an airport and hundreds of locked cells for the working-class communities doing time on Chicago's south side. Brick Assassin comes from Midway, a band of resilient goons growing up big and ugly, raised on a diet of industrial slime and nuclear-green hot dog relish in a dense smog of dying industries. Their new 12"ep is a series of complaints about union bosses, Nazi skins and trying to feed a family while the atmosphere smothers your lungs. Limited edition of 300 copies.
