The Buzzcocks. The Fall. Joy Division. The Smiths. Manchester brought us so many great bands, and here is another one! xCurraheex is a straight edge band that has been around since 2006, released their debut 7? in 2008 on Double Crossed Records from the UK and, after some line-up changes, have recorded their second 7? at the end of 2009. Seven songs of positive, yet aggressive, straight edge hardcore in the tradition of all the great straight edge bands from the late 1980s and late 1990s, brought with conviction and spirit. The 7? comes packed in great artwork from Javi.

Back On Track 7-Inch Commitment

Manchester's straight edge troupee xCurraheex has been going through hectic times in the last two years, with a lot of membership changes, causing delays with recordings and cancelled shows. But these times belong to the past ? vocalist Smit and drummer Mike are now joined by Mike Wright and Adam on guitar and bass respectively and are back on track! Hence, the title of the record! This 7? contains five songs, partly recorded more than over a year ago, that were only recently finished by the new line-up. Compared to their previous release, the 'Why We Fight' 7?, the guitar work is a bit more experimental, with quite some tempo changes and breaks, but despite that, it's still 100% energetic and fast straight edge hardcore. Artwork is again done by Javi and the record comes on green vinyl!

Our Home Is A Deathbed LP NO Sleep

Our Home Is A Deathbed features eleven new songs by the band and will be supported by a series of non-stop US and worldwide tour dates, all of which to be announced shortly. XERXES took shape in early 2008 in Louisville, KY with a sound that channels the energy and passion of mid-90s originators You And I and Saetia, while adding the more upbeat and brutal thrash mentality of contemporaries such as TRASH TALK and AMPERE, making for a sound that runs the gamut of blast-beat aggression and emotional rumination.

XERXES

Would You Understand? 7" No Sleep

Fusing elements of atmospheric post-rock/punk and melodic hardcore, Kentucky's emotive post-punk band Xerxes has spent the last four years of their existence carving their own path with a true DIY work ethic fueled by ever-evolving creativity. And the result has been nothing short of incredible, resulting in one of rock's most promising new bands. After several tours of the U.S., the band returned home to record their follow-up EP, "Would You Understand?". 7" includes free digital download. On colored vinyl.

XERXES

Collision Blonde LP No Sleep

Xerxes' sophomore full-length is backed by guitarist Will Allard, bassist Joseph Goode and drummer Ben Sears (who also plays alongside Allard in Whips/Chains). With a new line-up and some years removed from their young, violent, hardcore days, the instrumental prowess on "Collision Blonde" sounds less like their elder contemporaries and more a cleaner tone reminiscent of Jesus And Mary Chain and The Cure, yet sharp and uneasy in the vein of Bauhaus' early, gothic post-punk edge. Tracks like "Knife" and the closing "Nosedive" are aggressively built up into a cathartic release, alluding to Ceremony, Iceage and Mewithoutyou at times. Vinyl version includes digital download. On colored vinyl.

XIBALBA

Tierra Y Libertad LP Southern Lord

The Los Angeles, CA five-piece, infamous for their deliriously heavy hardcore death metal, is proving once again that their colossal clout outweighs the sum of their contemporaries. "Tierra Y Libertad" finds Xibalba in their most threatening form yet, forcibly colliding elite, '90s death metal with reckless down-tuned doom tones and fist-swinging breakdowns which slam harder than a head-on collision. Across forty-five minutes and eight tracks of head-turning brutality, Xibalba clarify their disregard for the recommended dosage of unholy stomp that a listener could possibly take, made all the more devastating by the returning hand of Taylor Young (Nails, Twitching Tongues, Disgrace) behind the recording controls at The Pit. Similarly, Xibalba called upon Dan Seagrave (Dismember, Entombed, Suffocation) to create the cover artwork. Now available again on vinyl.

xUNWORTHY OF LIFEx

The Promise Of Death CS Animals Kingdom

xUnworthy Of Lifex is a one person project out of Brisbane and personally speaking, flashed us back to 2009/10. Featuring some hard XVX lyrics and sounding like something you’d find on the Goodlife or Trustkill rosters, prepare to swing your fists when the breakdowns hit.
‘The Promise Of Death’ brings three tracks of non stop, vegan straightedge, pure 90’s / 00’s metalcore worship to the table and doesn’t disappoint.

XWIDOWMAKERX

Hard Lovin', Straight Thuggin' 7-Inch Counter Punch

A few years ago, xWIDOWMAKERx started as a very, VERY casual project between some close friends. At the time, five out of the six were in serious bands, and thought it would be fun to do a project that was the exact opposite - fun, tongue-in-cheek humor, poking fun at a genre of music that they all sincerely cared a lot for. So, these kids put together a few hundred dollars and spent a half day in the studio. The result was 'Hard Lovin, Straight Thuggin,'. They were originally going to call it 'Master of Puppets,' but that album name had apparently been taken by some band from the west coast. Limited to 300 copies (available with two different covers), this will be a collectors item soon. If you're looking for the next STRAIGHT YOUTH or GAYRILLA BISCUITS, look no further.
