Keep Our Beaches Clean 7-Inch Trash Talk

Eigth fast and spite-filled trash anthems by these SoCal boys. Fed up with yuppie tourists clogging 'their' beaches and filling the streets of their 'town', WTSE are quite territorial and pissed. They also lament the lack of passion in hardcore and the scars that ebay and downloads leave on the scene. Showing how it's done right, these songs are hardcore destilled. Chorus parts, angry vocals and a powerful delivery, questioning the status quo that smothers us daily. A very pleasant surprise indeed.

Modern Living 7" Atomic Action

Hailing from Belgium, the members of White Jazz have made themselves familiar with the world while touring all over with their other bands Rise And Fall and Blind To Faith, and with this project play a brand of hardcore/punk that has been described as being "slightly out of control," "kinda noisy" and even "bluesy" at times, but their unrelenting energy and fury is most definitely reminiscent of the early to mid-'80s. 7" includes digital download. On colored vinyl.

Cigarette Burns LP Iron Lung

Continuing in Olympia, WA's tradition of haphazard mangling, White Wards has finally managed to record a proper LP and it is one mean bastard. It's a gritty, nasty Mecht Mensch doing push-ups in the "Jan's Rooms" basement. US hardcore played the way it ought to be. Ugly. Art and sounds by Jake Dudley. LP includes digital download.

Detroit Hardcore 1979-1985 Book Revelation Press

In the early seventies, Detroit was the musical hub of America. Everything from the chart topping sounds of Motown records to the vicious proto-punk of The Stooges was being brewed out there and it seemed like there was no end in sight. But by the early eighties, the city was both a physical and cultural wasteland due to major label buyouts of the artists as well as the crippling drug habits of some of the others. Detroit's most known musical export at the time was the vapid sounds of New Wave heartthrobs The Romantics; this wasn't good. It took a gaggle of suburban skateboarders, a grade school teacher and a census bureau clerk to wake this city up from its slumber and start one of the first hardcore punk scenes in America. "Why Be Something That You're Not" chronicles the first wave of Detroit hardcore from its origins in the late seventies to its demise in the mid-eighties. Through a combination of oral history and extensive imagery, the book proves that even though the Southern California beach towns might have created the look and style of hardcore punk, it was the Detroit scene - along with a handful of other cities across the country - that cultivated the music's grassroots aesthetic before most cultural hot spots around the globe even knew what the music was about. The book includes interviews with members of The Fix, Violent Apathy, Negative Approach, Necros, Pagans, Bored Youth, and L-Seven along with other people who had a hand in the early hardcore scene like Ian MacKaye, Tesco Vee and Dave Stimson.

Skullduggery LP Katorga Works

Fast, herky-jerky hardcore from vacation hot spot #1, Denton, TX. Insanely melodic guitar lines are juxtaposed with tough and unique vocals over a driving punk sound, described by Igby as "Confront meets mid-era Face Value."

Five years in the making, "Who The Hell Is Wild Side?" is the first LP from Niagra Falls, Ontario, Candada's Wild Side. Voir Dire LP Holy Roar

At this point it would perhaps be entirely fair to consider Will Haven to possess legendary status. Forming in 1995 and releasing such classic album as ‘El Diablo’, ‘WHVN’ and ‘Carpe Diem’, not to mention having shared the stage with the likes of Coalesce, Vision of Disorder, Neurosis, Slipknot, Earth Crisis, Dillinger Escape Plan and Deftones, Will Haven really have done it all. Or so it would have seemed…..Now returning with ‘Voir Dire’, their first album in 10 years with Grady Avenell on vocals, Will Haven have taken a darker, deeper, hell-tuned direction. Building upon the bands sonic history, this is by far the biggest, most ominous, riff-laden Will Haven album to date. The album also marks the debut of Chris Fehn (Slipknot) within the bands ranks on bass. Which is pretty cool, isn’t it?But besides all of these facts – I feel honoured to be giving this album its only vinyl release. Having been a fan of the band since the release of El Diablo in 1997, it is an absolute privilege to be releasing one of my favourite bands of my childhood, who greatly influenced both my musical taste and musical path. With retooled artwork, deluxe vinyl packaging and 3 vinyl colours available, this really should be a highlight of Holy Roar so far….
On colored vinyl.

s/t LP Unity Worldwide

The sound of WINDS OF PROMISE can be described as a perfect mix of '80s Dischord hardcore and the guys' typical O.C. hardcore - aggressive, energetic and powerful, with lots of breaks and a pinch of feel and melody. Their songs sound fresh and fresh, but still reminiscent of the sound of their previous bands (UNITY, UNIFORM CHOICE, IGNITE, TRIGGERMAN, SPEAK 714, THE KILLING FLAME, BLOOD DAYS, LASTLIGHT) and in their songs you can hear the influences of bands like MARGINAL MAN, EMBRACE, DAG NASTY and RITES OF SPRING clearly. The record comes with gatefold-cover, a poster and sticker. Unity Worldwide and Wishingwell Records donate the profit to Mukoviszidose Foundation.
