VITAMIN X

Rip It Out 7-Inch Havoc

Vitamin X takes their tried and true thrash sound to the next level. Building on the direction they were headed with the Bad Trip LP this ep mixes full on thrash with some wild 70's rock riffs and leads. Before you think this is another 'How We Rock' or 'Fire And Ice' you better chill out and recognize, it's still fast and furious, just with some wild and unique guitar work from Marc that's influenced by 70's hard rock. Essential for die hard fans or people who have never heard Vitamin X before.

VITAMIN X

Age Of Paranoia LP Southern Lord

The newest chapter in the Vitamin X lineage, "Age Of Paranoia" was recorded by Igor Wouters at ARC Studios in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Packing 16 volatile tracks into a white-knuckled 28 minutes, "Age Of Paranoia" surges with rapid-fire punk angst packed with ripping rock leads and raised-fist gang-chant anthems. The album includes several special guest guitar solos by J. Mascis (Dinosaur Jr., Witch) and Bubba Dupree (Void, Soundgarden, Dave Grohl's Probot, Brant Bjork), and is completed with cover artwork by Marald (Baroness, Kylesa, High On Fire). Now available on vinyl.

VOGUE

Dickfaced LP Holy Shit!

If you like their previous stuff, you will definitly love this one. The songs on the record are what you can expect from VOGUE but more. Harsher, harder, rawer, unexpected tempo juggling, psychedelic shit ... Discontent in its purest form. It’s hard to make comparisons with other bands as there are so many sides to the record (plus I suck at this). But if you insist: PISSED JEANS, SSD, BRUTAL KNIGHTS, ANNIHILATION TIME and DEAD STOP ... (told you).

VOGUE

Pompshit LP Hardware

Plenty of folks who grew up with hardcore have since moved onto its noisier or artier or less-traditional cousins. VOGUE's "Pompshit" is sourced in the early 1980's loose-booty Hardcore-Punk with some hints into the tightly wound treble-spray of early '90s noise-rock. It's an ugly sound - sometimes frenzied and sometimes totally entropic. Unlike so much music in 2010, VOGUE doesn't want to inflate your sense of euphoria. The songs on the record are what you can expect from VOGUE - harsh, raw, unexpected tempo juggling. They want to stub out enthusiasm like a cigarette on a forehead. This album is diverse, but VOGUE ain't no dilettantes. If you like their former stuff you'll love these tracks!

VOIGHT KAMPFF

s/t CS Demo

Razorcake “Not at all what you’d expect from a long distance project involving members from Minneapolis’ Formaldehyde Junkies and St. Louis’s the Breaks: this is some compelling dark punk ala the current crop of Northwestern bands, such as the Estranged, Criminal Code, and the Red Dons. Speaking of Red Dons, I’m hearing a lot of the Observers’ magic with the in-your-face vocals and the way the guitar hooks weave in and out of a driving rhythm section. Perfect for punks who aren’t precious about where they shelve their Joy Division records.

VYST

try again. fail again. keep on trying. keep on living. gain while giving. LP Vendetta

VYST contains members of Throwers, Glasses, and Perth Express and will surely join the ranks of other great new German hardcore acts if they haven’t already. "Try Again. Fail Again.” is a half-hour of darkly tinged hardcore with some great ferocity displayed in each of the nine tracks featured here. They dip into moments of melody on some of the longer tracks like “Towards the Cliff”, “They Run”, and “Count Me Down” and their briefness makes them all the more powerful. The production is quite good also, everything rings clear and sharp bringing out the heaviness of some of the slower, crunchy passages. Vocals are wonderfully raspy and hoarse, rending his throat as he runs through issues both bleak and uplifting, contemptuous and angry. VYST don’t rely on dissonance. Merely powerful riffs that move from high speed punk to a moment or two in sludgecore territory (almost) to a short melodic or melancholic (sometimes clean) section — briefly there will be in a few songs a rough tremolo passage just touching on something blackened. Not injected with the blazing sludge found in Perth Express and yet not being as strictly hardcore as Glasses, VYST have found a comfortable middle ground with a very minor blackened-crusty influence without completely falling into the ever-popular splinter genre of dark hardcore; and it works very well. Actually they probably have more in common with their brothers in Throwers than the other two groups which is more on the dark dissonant side of the sound. There’s some excellent arrangements to be heard on “Try Again…”, very catchy and abrasive, fast with some hammer-blow heaviness sprinkled at just the right moments. Quite an enjoyable listening experience all the way through but nothing that could be said to be “off the beaten path”. Just solid, head-bang-inducing hardcore." ( cvltnation )

Slow Decay 7-Inch Life\'s A Rape

On 'Slow Decay', their 2nd EP, San Diego's Waco Fuck bring six songs of blazing fast hardcore a la Dropdead, Siege, Scum-era Napalm Death, Crossed Out, and the ilk. This record is six songs of blast beats and screeched vocals that may remind some of the glory days of Slap A Ham and Sabado Gigante.

WACO FUCK

Paranoia Is Total Awareness LP Life\'s A Rape

Sounds a lot like Batallion of Saints and Broken Bones mixed with 90's crust like State of Fear, a bit of Totalitar, and the Infest/ND 'Scum' riffing these guys nailed on their eps. A band who can throw in a blast beat for flavor and still write a decent mid paced roger or three.

The state of Maine has never been notorious for producing straight forward hardcore acts, but Wake Up Call is rising above the stereotypes and are ready to slap the naysayers in the face. With a traditional brand of stripped down, fast paced hardcore, Wake Up Call are following in the path of the old school hardcore bands that paved the way for the genre, yet are sticking to a style they call their own, without worry about the current trends in modern day punk rock. This is their demo pressed onto vinyl. Very fast and old school, watch out for their debut ep on Think Fast!

WALK ASIDE

This Ain't No Market... 7-Inch Carte Blanche

Walk Aside have a good deal of that late 80s, Gorilla Biscuits-styled melodicore in them. You can tell that these guys know their 7 Seconds records backward and forward, and the semi-catchy crew choruses are never in shortage. This also has so much of the hardcore scene of the past few years in it that there's no way you can call these guys a nostalgia act. There are traces of early Dischord bands to be found as well, most evidently in the the final track, on which Walk Aside covers the Teen Idles' 'Sneakers
